Practise correlative conjunctions: 'both...and' (the two together), 'either...or' (one or the other), and 'neither...nor' (not one and not the other). With 'either...or' and 'neither...nor', the verb agrees with the nearest subject: 'Neither Tom nor his friends are coming.'
