Fronting exercises online (Typing Practice)
Practise fronting prepositional phrases, predicate adjectives and participles to create formal, literary or academic emphasis. Master locative fronting (In the corner stood...), directional fronting (Into the room walked...), predicate fronting (Gone are the days...) and academic patterns (Of particular interest is...). These patterns use full subject-verb inversion — different from the subject-auxiliary inversion in negative adverbial constructions. About 25% of questions test when inversion does NOT occur (pronoun subjects, existential there).
